About Jane

I'm Jane, a San Francisco-based artist creating high quality, code-generated art. I received my B.F.A. in Printmaking, Drawing, and Writing from Washington University in St. Louis. After graduating, I worked in the interior design and apparel industries; I sold high quality textiles and wallpaper to interior designers and developed and produced lots of cool products at Betabrand and Levi’s. I missed making art, so I continued with my artistic practice, making physical collages using leftover wallpaper samples and cutting up some of my own prints.

Eventually, I decided to modernize my skills and learn to code, so I attended General Assembly's Web Development Immersive program. For my final project, I built a web app called Spot Painting, inspired by Damien Hirst’s Spot Paintings, which allowed users to generate digital spot paintings by inputting a few parameters. This project made something click for me: I knew I should explore using code to create art.

I then worked as a professional software engineer for companies including Eventbrite, The Information, and Pinterest. While at Pinterest, I had the idea to write code to create art and started playing around by making master copies of some of my favorite artist’s work. I now spend my days creating art with code - I hope that my work brings you excitement, happiness, and joy!
